"Sound Wear"

“Sound Wear”

“Sound Wear” is a collection of sound making wearable pieces, which are playful and interactive.

I discover and explore interesting sounds by making resonating shapes in metal, wood and porcelain.

“Sound Wear” is experimental in regards to material, size and sound, which allows me to respond in different ways to create aesthetic and sound making qualities that might express the personality of the wearer.

The use of colour in my current body of work represent C G Jungs categorising theories from early 1920th, where personality testing results in one of four different colours, representing the main characteristics of a personality type.

"Headphones"

With these headphones, you can play a tune for yourself or let others play for you. The wearer will experience a strong sound but you can hardly hear it from the outside.

"Sound Wear"

At the centre of “Sound Wear” is a collection of four hats; it also includes bracelets, a neckalce, brooches, headphones and headwear. The hats are made of 0,8 mm plywood built around laser cut 3mm painted MDF.

The green character is described as an introvert and shy person.

The hat has got two string instruments on the sides and is designed to encase the wearer with sound. The sound is clear and harp like for the wearer, but can not be heard from the outside of the hat.

This hat allows the wearer to be in their personal space and to play their own melody of life.

"Sound Wear"

The red character is described to be a leader type with short communication.

The shape of the hat is inspired by headgear for
authoritative like Egyptian kings.

This hat makes a firm “flip sound” if the wearer touches the end of the wooden strips in one movement, from the top to the bottom. I imagine the sound to be used to attract
attention and together with the movement it convays
something very authoritative about the movement of the wearer.

"Sound Wear"

The blue character is described as a person that likes to please others and do not like changes.

I imagine this character to be like a ballerina in a
jewellery box, the ballerina is spinning around to a tune and the viewer is listening and looking at the pretty
ballerina.

In the top of this hat there is a musical movement box that can be wound up with a key. The shape of the hat is
inspired by a ballerinas hairstyle.

The sound is clear both for the wearer and the viewer.
As the music box is placed on the wearers head the person
almost becomes a musical box made for entertainment.

"Sound Wear"

The yellow character is described as a fun, networking and playful person.

I imagine this character to be attention seeking and to
engage people with her appearance.

This hat has two mini slinkies attached with magnet on the sides. The slinkies can be pulled out or automatically pop out if the wearer tilts her head.

When the slinkies fall out it creates a spacey, electronic star wars like sound. The wearer can increase the sound with her movement and let a viewer listen to the sound through one of the attachments in the slinkies. This creates a
connection between wearer and viewer.
